President of the Turkish Clothing Manufacturers’ Association (TGSD), Toygar Narbay, stated, “Our sector is losing its competitive edge. While interest rate policies are increasing costs, the suppressed exchange rate limits revenues. Under these conditions, government support is no longer a choice—it’s a necessity.”
Narbay emphasized that the current 50% policy interest rate imposes a commercial interest burden exceeding 60% on manufacturers, while the limited increase in exchange rates continues to restrict evenues. “In this scenario, companies are unable to cover their costs. Moreover, high interest rates are directly reflected in prices and fuel inflation,” he said.
Turkish products are now 60% more expensive
Narbay stressed that the apparel industry has lost its international competitiveness due to rising minimum wages and financing costs. “Turkish products are now 60% more expensive than those from the Far East and 45% costlier than those from North Africa. While our costs have increased by 249%, our foreign currency revenues have only risen by 101%. This is unsustainable,” he noted.
TGSD calls for emergency support in three key areas
To help the sector breathe and regain competitiveness, Narbay called on the government to announce an urgent support package. TGSD outlined three top-priority demands:
• Exchange Rate Support:
A 10% net export support should be granted to sectors with high local value-added production.
• Access to Finance:
Rediscount interest rates should be set at half of the policy rate, and tailored solutions should be developed for companies lacking access to credit.
• Employment Support:
The current TL 2,500 support per employee should be applied across all companies regardless of size.

Türkiye Giyim Sanayicileri Derneği (TGSD) Başkanı Toygar Narbay, “Sektörümüz rekabet gücünü kaybediyor. Faiz politikaları maliyetleri artırırken, baskılanan döviz kuru gelirleri sınırlıyor. Bu koşullar altında devlet desteği artık bir tercih değil, zorunluluk” açıklamasında bulundu.
Narbay, mevcut %50 politika faiz oranının üreticilere %60’ı aşan ticari faiz yükü getirdiğini, döviz kurlarındaki sınırlı artışın ise gelirleri kısıtlamaya devam ettiğini vurguladı. “Bu tabloda firmalar maliyetlerini karşılayamıyor. Ayrıca yüksek faiz oranları fiyatlara doğrudan yansıyor ve enflasyonu körüklüyor,” dedi.
Türk ürünleri artık %60 daha pahalı
Narbay, artan asgari ücretler ve finansman maliyetleri nedeniyle hazır giyim sektörünün uluslararası rekabet gücünü kaybettiğine dikkat çekti. “Türk ürünleri artık Uzak Doğu’daki ürünlerden %60, Kuzey Afrika’dakilerden ise %45 daha pahalı. Maliyetlerimiz %249 artarken, döviz bazlı gelirlerimiz sadece %101 yükseldi. Bu sürdürülebilir değil,” ifadelerini kullandı.
TGSD, üç kritik alanda acil destek çağrısında bulundu
Sektörün nefes alabilmesi ve yeniden rekabet gücü kazanabilmesi için hükümete acil destek paketi açıklama çağrısı yapan Narbay, TGSD’nin üç öncelikli talebini şu şekilde sıraladı:
• Kur Desteği:
Yüksek yerli katma değerli üretim yapan sektörlere %10 net ihracat desteği verilmeli.
• Finansa Erişim:
Reeskont faiz oranları politika faizinin yarısı seviyesinde belirlenmeli ve krediye erişimi olmayan firmalara özel çözümler geliştirilmelidir.
• İstihdam Desteği:
Halihazırda uygulanan çalışan başına 2.500 TL destek, firma büyüklüğü ayrımı yapılmaksızın tüm şirketlere uygulanmalıdır.
